Build Your IB Diploma
One Diploma. Lots of possibilities.
Every Plano East IB Diploma student completes the same overall Diploma requirements, but students have flexibility in the subjects and levels they choose.
Your Diploma Plan should reflect your strengths, interests, and future goals while meeting the IB Diploma, Plano ISD graduation, and scheduling requirements.
What Does the IB Diploma Require?

The Big Picture:
6 IB Courses + TOK + EE + CAS = your IB Diploma Programme
What do SL and HL Mean?
IB subjects are studied at either Standard Level (SL) or Higher Level (HL). Both are IB courses; HL provides greater depth and additional instructional time.
Standard Level (SL)
At Plano East, most SL courses can be completed and assessed within one school year.
Higher Level (HL)
All Plano East HL courses continue across two years, with students completing their final IB exams after the second year.
Where Could Your IB Diploma Take You?
There is no single "best" IB Diploma plan.
Your courses should reflect your strengths, interests, and future goals while meeting IB Diploma and graduation requirements. The examples below show how students might build different Diploma plans based on areas they may want to explore.
How to Read These Plans

One More Thing: Start With Where You Might Go
Different colleges and majors can have different expectations. This is especially important for programs such as engineering, computer science, natural sciences, health professions, and other specialized fields.
Before finalizing a Diploma Plan, students should research programs they may be considering and work with their counselor and IB Coordinator to make sure their choices support both IB Diploma requirements and their future goals.
